Running annual motor vehicle reports on all your drivers can be confusing. You have a stack of papers; all with different codes and violations, from different states, and different traffic tickets. Knowing and understanding a person’s driving history is crucial when determining if an applicant or employee meets your requirements to perform their work duties. You can find out why you should run a driving record on applicants/employees driving company vehicles here.

Ordering a motor vehicle report

Motor vehicle reports have an instant turn around speed if you order them through CompuFact. You can find out how to obtain driving records here. If you batch order your motor vehicle reports, you will have a large group of them returned instantly and reading them all can be confusing.

Section 1: Information searched

This is where you will find the information you input the CompuFact system when ordering your report. This will include full name, DOB, SSN, and the driver’s license number.

Section 2: Identifiers found

In this section, you will see the information used when confirming the identity of the license number searched. It will always have a full name and driver’s license number. It may also include other information like the DOB, height, weight, hair color, or eye color.

Section 3: Driver’s license Status

It is a pretty basic section. Typical results will return as valid, invalid, or see below if a person has multiple licenses.

Section 4: Violations/Convictions and failure to appear

This is the section where you will find traffic tickets. Any missed court dates concerning traffic tickets will appear here as well. Do not expect to find any information concerning non-traffic tickets or violations, such as getting pulled over for a misdemeanor level offense. It will also tell you if the driver was at fault or not in an accident.

Section 5: Suspensions and Revocations

Any penalties suffered to a person’s privilege to drive will appear here. It will show traffic offenses, misdemeanors, and felonies, but only if they have a direct relation to the person’s driving status. Once it no longer affects their driving status it should disappear off the record.

Section 6: License and permit information

This is another easy to read section that will list out the current licenses the driver has. This could be a standard driver’s license, learner’s permit, or a specialty license such as trailer/towing.

Section 7: Miscellaneous State Data

Anything that does not fit in the above sections will be found here. If the person has an ignition interlock device, or various restrictions in place by the state will be found in this section.
